Showing some love
As individuals, RM consultants support a wide range of non-profit and environmental activist organizations financially, as volunteers, or through pro bono projects. The ever-growing list includes:RM Trip Highlight
In September 2008, RM President, Shawna Bohan, visited Magdalena Bay near San Carlos, Mexico to take part in a sea turtle monitoring expedition – as organized by Julio Solis, Executive Director of the Waterkeeper Alliance chapter there. Magdalena Bay is the largest wetland ecosystem on the west coast of the Baja California Peninsula and is considered one of the 10 most important wetland systems in North America.
Like many coastal areas of Mexico, Magdalena Bay is under threat of development from wealthy foreign investors. Solis is Waterkeeper’s voice in this area, monitoring life in the water and speaking to the locals about sustainable fishing tactics and the true value of their bay.
As a result of this impressive effort happening in San Carlos, Redmann Mahoney will make the Vigilantes de Bahia Magdalena the sole recipient of our charitable donations in 2009. We also hope to visit our friend Vern (the turtle) again soon…
